Gin Produced in Georgia Exported to Australia
Soma Dry Gin has been producing Georgian gin for several months, and recently sent a test quantity for export to Australia.
The co-founder of the company, Data Lapauri, told BM.GE that there is a great demand for gin in Georgian bars, but only imported gin existed, which decided the creation of Soma Dry Gin.
"First of all, we love and care about Gin, we have been in this business for a long time. We produced wine and we have a bar, we have always had quite solid sales of gin, and it is the policy of our bar to promote Georgian production. We were looking for Georgian-made gin, which would be both quality and marketable, but all of them were imported, so we decided to start this business ourselves. We were experimenting for three years, involved technologists and researchers, got help from bartenders and sommeliers. We involved scientists in the process, who researched various endemic plants, and started serious production from July. Now, three people are involved in the production process," says Data Lafauri.
თhe company started sales in September, and in Georgia, the products are sold in "Smugglers" chain stores and "Dedaena Bar". "Over the years we have sold about 600 bottles, and recently we sent the test quantity, 120 bottles, for export to Australia, it is still on the way and this is a very important fact for us," he explains.
Soma Dry Gin has already made plans for the future and plans to increase production, participate in international exhibitions and enter the German market in the near future.
