Georgian Startup Ambient Starts Producing Modular Synthesizers
Ambient is the new startup by Davit Malania and Iva Salukvadze, which aims to create modular synthesizers and its accessories.
A modular synthesizer is an electronic musical instrument that consists of a multitude of different components (modules) that are used and combined to create electronic sounds. The individual modules are connected via cables (patch cables), switches, sliders and patch panels.
"We have always been fascinated by the idea of designing audio devices. We wanted to create our own device, so we first made the design and then started thinking about how to launch the finished product.
The first series of this idea is the Tarragon series, which includes Saw wave VCO, Mixer, VCA, Multi, ADSR, LFO and VCF devices."
Before the official release, they test the demo versions of modular synthesizers with the current Georgian artists.
"Purchasing foreign modules is an expensive pleasure for artists and costs hundreds of dollars, so we offer them a much more budget-friendly and quality alternative that we think will work well for them."
Future plans of the newly-launched project Ambient includes releasing the modules and additional accessories of Tarragon Series, which will be an initial set for modular synthesis.
