Georgian-Italian Project to Introduce Digital Technologies in Museums
The University of Business and Technology and Centrica, a leading Italian technology company, with the support of the Italian Embassy, are announcing a series of joint projects.
Activities will focus on cultural technologies. The staff of the Georgian National Museum will be trained within the project. The direction of cultural technologies aims to integrate modern technological advances in museum and other cultural fields.
To this end, the Georgian-Italian project will raise the awareness of museum curators and staff about the possibilities of digital technologies, to make the process of visiting the museum much more attractive and interesting for each visitor.
The following technological trends will be introduced to the representatives of the cultural fild: 2D/3D digitization, cloud technologies, platforms and interactive installations (touch, natural interaction), iOS / Android mobile apps (special emphasis on location-based apps), AR / VR / MR, immersive and interactive Technologies for physical spaces, customer experience.
Centrica, BTU's partner in this project, is a company with vast experience in digitizing and developing exciting experiences for museums. One of the most successful projects of the company is the digitization of the Uffizi Gallery in Florence.
The activities planned within the project will start in the spring of 2021. The staff of the following museums of Georgia will be trained in the latest technologies: Georgian Museum, National Gallery, Museum of Fine Arts, Tbilisi History Museum, Ethnography Museum, Sighnaghi Museum, Vani Archaeological Museum - Reserve, Svaneti Museum, Samtskhe-Javakheti Museum, Dmanisi Museum-Reserve, Dzalisa Museum.
