Georgian Delegation Triumphs at the International Youth Debate Forum in Prague
The International Youth Debate Forum took place in Prague from July 5-11, witnessing the impressive performance of a fully-funded Georgian delegation. The forum brought together over 200 students from diverse countries including Japan, Israel, Austria, Finland, Latvia, Ukraine, Estonia, Italy, Spain, Slovenia, and the Czech Republic.
The forum included an international tournament where the Georgian team achieved victories over their Israeli and Spanish counterparts. Furthermore, Ketevan Maghradze, an esteemed Georgian international trainer and judge who was invited to the forum, conducted training sessions. It's noteworthy that Maghradze also actively officiated during the international tournament.
The Georgian delegates, four students, were chosen through a rigorous selection process from amongst 900 members of various debate clubs and schools across Georgia. They were part of the "Debate for Better Education" initiative.
Backed by the Gudavadze-Patarkatsishvili Foundation, the "Debate for Better Education" project aims to nurture the skills of free-thinking and independent students. It fosters abilities such as constructive reasoning, argumentation, research, public speaking, teamwork, time management, and respect.
The Georgian Institute of Debate and Education (GIDE), the only representative from Georgia in the International Debate Educational Organization (IDEA), has been organizing this international debate forum for several years. It has been instrumental in empowering young individuals and promoting their overall development.
