Georgian CaucasPack Manufactures Produce Protection Shields by Recycling Plastic Bottles

With the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), CaucasPack has been able to produce up to 40,000 types of protective shields.

Starting from this week, the shields will be handed over to health care workers, local public servants and people on the front lines of the fight against the pandemic in Tbilisi and the regions of Georgia.

Most importantly, convenient protective shields of CaucasPack are made from recycled plastic bottles. Prior to the pandemic, the company, which operates in Rustavi, used to produce disposable cups and food containers, but has now reorganized production and switched to protective shields, keeping 99 jobs fully occupied.

According to UNDP chief Louisa Winton, CaucasPack is a good example of how local production helps doctors and public servants to perform their duties safely during quarantine, and thus helps to maintain jobs and a source of income.

In the coming weeks, UNDP, with the support of the governments of Switzerland and Austria and in cooperation with local NGOs, will purchase an additional 23,000 shields and deliver them to health care workers and vulnerable populations in 23 municipalities.

CAUCASPACK (FLEXERPAC) was founded in 2007. The Company is the leading firm in the Georgian market in the production of disposable plastic packaging. In addition to its home market, the Company successfully exports its products across the South Caucasus region and beyond.
