Georgian and French Investors Launch High-Technology Farming Enterprise in Dmanisi

A high-technology farming enterprise has been built with Georgian and French investments in Dmanisi Municipality. The project was implemented with the support of TBC Bank.

Agro-industrial group Green Alliance has established a farm of French meat cows of Salers breed in the village of Zemo Karabulakhi. The project’s investment value is GEL 10 million, including TBC Bank’s co-funding portion, which constituted GEL 6 million as part of a preferential agro loan.

A total of 130 cows of Salers breed were transported from the central part of France to Georgia. The target territory was selected after long exploration works – Dmanisi climate and meteorological characteristics have many similarities with the central part of France. Furthermore, Zemo Karabulakhi grasslands are covered by high-quality grass varieties.

The farm owns grasslands and agricultural lands of 820 hectares and is equipped with cutting-edge agricultural infrastructure. The company plans to increase the number of cows to 900 ones and produce 1,000 tons of beef a year.

The company employs local residents and cooperates with a technical group of French consultants uniting veterinaries, nutritionists, and cattle specialists. The technical group supervisees the everyday working process and participates in the training of domestic staff. The farm’s personnel passes probation period in France on a constant basis.

"This project is based on an absolutely autonomous farm concept. We plan to implement the analogical project in other regions of Georgia. The final objective is to harmonize the domestic cattle breeding industry to European standards”, the founding partner Levan Khurodze said.

As for TBC Bank, the company has already invested over GEL 500 million in agribusiness development in Georgia.

Agro-industrial Group Green Alliance was founded by Georgian, French, and Dutch partners Jacque Flur, Levan Khurodze, Zaza Kikvadze, Lasha Jincharadze, and MG Law company in 2019.
The group unites four companies, including Dmanisi Cattle, GeoReg, and Sartichala Vineyard Management.
