Georgia Moves to the Next Phase of Agricultural Development, Says Minister Davit Songulashvili

Agriculture has received special attention and was designated as a state priority since the Georgian Dream government came to power. Since then, significant efforts have been made to strengthen the agricultural sector, stated Georgia’s Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Davit Songulashvili.

Speaking about the vision for the development of the agricultural sector, the Minister noted that the first stage of development has been completed and the country is now entering the next phase.

“It was essential to implement the programs that have enabled us to discuss and make decisions of this scale and substance today. The progress achieved over the past years has created the foundation for moving to a new stage of development.

The commercialization of agriculture is particularly important for creating competitive products, reducing dependence on imports, and facilitating exports. To achieve this, product quality and price competitiveness are crucial. However, this is only one part of the process.

Strengthening family farms is also an important component of our agenda. Additional work is currently underway in this direction, and we will soon present new initiatives. This means that we are developing programs tailored to all types of farmers, ensuring comprehensive support that meets the demands of today’s market,” Davit Songulashvili said.
