Farmhouse Blue Valley Launches New Local Project in Georgia
Farmhouse Blue Valley launches new local project with the investment of 1.6 million GEL supported by Bank of Georgia. The project envisages arranging high tunnel greenhouses, within the framework of which, the company will be able to harvest earlier, and the crop will be protected from possible bad weather.
Blue Valley appeared on the local market in 2015. It owns a 19-hectare blueberry plantation in the village of Laituri, Ozurgeti Municipality. The company sells 100-150 tons of blueberries every year in both local and export markets and employs more than 200 people seasonally.
Blue Valley is the first Georgian company to implement a blueberry planting project under high tunnels within the framework of a grant component of the Bank of Georgia and USAID programme. Also, the company was the first to develop and implement an electronic harvesting system and the first to receive the internationally recognized GRASP Certificate of Social Responsibility.
