East Point Responds to Bomb Threat Reports: “We Are Following Agency Instructions”

East Point, one of Tbilisi’s largest shopping centers, has responded to reports of a bomb threat, stating that the mall is cooperating closely with authorities and acting strictly according to official instructions.

“We are working closely with the relevant agencies and acting according to their instructions,” Teiko Lominadze, Marketing Director of East Point, told Business Partner.

Lominadze clarified that no evacuation was announced, as no such directive was issued by security authorities. “Unfortunately, this is not the first incident. We had a similar situation a few months ago. There is a specific protocol for how these cases are managed. The shopping center is obliged to contact the relevant agencies, who then manage the process. We are fully aligned with their directives,” she said.

The response comes after the U.S. Embassy in Georgia issued a security alert to its citizens, citing a reported bomb threat targeting three shopping malls in Tbilisi.

The State Security Service of Georgia (SSG) also released a statement confirming that its relevant units are responding to another false report. The agency emphasized that the safety of citizens is its top priority and that all necessary and urgent measures are being taken within its authority.

No injuries or incidents have been reported, and investigations are ongoing.
