“Despite Stereotypes, Developers Can Communicate” – Tornike Kacharava, Backend Developer

“Despite many stereotypes that developers are silent, uncommunicative, and introverted people, we can usually communicate with others—even if it takes a little effort. Just not when it comes to work,” says Tornike Kacharava, Python Backend Developer at Making Science | SWEEFT.

This story is part of the “Learn What Will Really Be Useful to You” column by Business Partner, showcasing successful graduates of Skillwill Georgia—people who transitioned from unrelated fields into the world of technology. What inspired their change, and what new opportunities did tech unlock?

“Behind every website lies a part that users don’t see—the backend logic. For instance, when a user registers on a platform, it's our job to ensure the backend processes work properly, fix flaws, and maintain security,” says Tornike.

Tornike wasn’t always in tech. He previously worked as an economist but felt drawn to the tech world due to its diversity, dynamism, and constant opportunities for growth.

“My journey began with Skillwill, where I learned programming fundamentals and explored different directions in tech. I eventually chose to specialize in Python and backend development,” he explains.

During the course, Tornike connected with fellow students, exchanging ideas and building professional networks. “It’s valuable to meet others with shared interests. In the future, these connections could evolve into collaborations on new products,” he adds.

Now a backend developer for over a year, Tornike has worked on a number of real-world projects, including a guest house platform and a personalized training system. “Each experience helped me learn new technologies and refine my skills,” he says.

“As soon as I entered the tech field, I knew I had found my place. This is the career path I’ve always wanted—and I have no plans to change it.”
