“Demand in the Local Market has Increased — We Sell 25 tons of Salmon per month,” says Guria Fish Farming

Demand for Norwegian salmon has increased in the local market, and we currently sell 25 tons of salmon per month, Giorgi Chkhaidze, founder of Guria Fish Farming, told Business Partner.

According to him, 100% of the company’s salmon production is sold on the local market, including through major retail chains and the HoReCa sector.

“Based on growing demand, we increase production capacity almost every year. We had also planned to enter export markets, however, at this stage we are remaining focused on the local market in order to fully meet demand.

As you know, we also had plans to open a fish laboratory, but due to a shortage of qualified personnel, the project has been temporarily paused. This year, with our existing resources, we want to increase production capacity, while from next year we are planning to make a larger-scale investment,” Giorgi Chkhaidze stated.

For reference, Guria Fish Farming is located in Grigoleti. The project is valued at GEL 8.5 million, of which GEL 5 million was financed within the framework of the “Produce in Georgia” program. The project is designed for a five-year period, and the company’s management plans to invest a total of GEL 200 million. The farm currently employs 18 people.
