Consumer Rights Breached: National Competition Agency Finds iPlus Guilty of Violations

In a recent investigation by the National Competition Agency, tech firm "Aiplius" LLC was found in violation of the Law of Georgia on "Protection of Consumer Rights". The results of the inquiry, as confirmed by the agency, have identified that the company failed to meet basic obligations towards consumers.

Specifically, the comprehensive assessment of the case disclosed that iPlus did not fulfill its obligations to inform customers, return remotely purchased goods without conditions, or replace, repair, or refund defective items. This violation of consumer rights by the merchant was solidified by the evidence presented during the investigation.

Consequently, the agency has directed iPlus to rectify the breaches within a month. "The trader has been ordered to restore the violated consumer rights and align its trade policy with the provisions of the relevant laws," the agency reported.

For context, the agency received 240 applications between November 2022 and May 2023. Of these, 149 were thoroughly investigated. Over this seven-month period, the Competition Agency negotiated 44 conditional commitment agreements in 80 cases, advocating for the consumer. As for the 22 conditional obligations signed in 41 cases, the agency reports that the matters have been completely resolved. In this timeframe, 10 instances of group consumer rights violations were confirmed in 23 cases, with 3 cases in which the violation was not substantiated.

This development underlines the critical role the National Competition Agency plays in upholding consumer rights and ensuring businesses comply with regulatory standards.
