Cellfie Mobile Teams Up with Nokia for 4G Enhancement and 5G Network Introduction
Georgia's mobile operator, Cellfie Mobile, announced today a significant partnership with Nokia, the world-renowned technology company.
This landmark agreement aims to upgrade the existing 4G network and pave the way for the rollout of the 5G network across the country, thereby promising superior internet quality and coverage for Cellfie's 1.45 million customers.
Under the terms of the agreement, Nokia is entrusted with the task of modernizing the current base stations and constructing new ones, the latter of which are already 5G-ready. The deal includes Nokia supplying devices from its extensive 5G AirScale portfolio, replete with energy-efficient ReefShark System-on-Chip (SoC) technology. The package also provides access to Nokia's advanced AirScale Baseband, Remote Radio Head (RRH) products, and the intelligent MantaRay network management system, offering Cellfie a consolidated network view and enhanced AI-powered monitoring. Once the 5G network auction concludes in Georgia, Nokia will implement the new 5G (3.5 GHz) base stations.
This extensive undertaking aims to offer Cellfie users enhanced connectivity, including comprehensive coverage and high-speed broadband services, with work scheduled to commence in November 2023.
Vasil Berishvili, CEO of Cellfie Mobile, expressed his satisfaction with the deal, noting that the partnership would significantly improve network quality and coverage. He added, "This agreement is also a preparation for the development of the 5G network. Our long-term partnership with Nokia and the company's strong network equipment portfolio made it easy for us to make the decision to deepen cooperation with Nokia."
Tamar Gakharia, the financial director of CBS Group, praised the agreement as evidence of CBS Group's commitment to improving network sustainability, quality, and reliability. Gakharia said, "CBS Group continues to work to provide the best mobile connectivity in the country. I would like to thank the Cellfie and Nokia teams for the joint successful efforts."
Demetrio Russo, Nokia's Vice President for the Turkey and Central Asia region, also shared his enthusiasm for the project. "We are proud to have the opportunity to further deepen our long-term partnership with Cellfie Mobile, both by enhancing its existing network portfolio and laying the groundwork for its 5G network deployment."
