Breathing Apparatus Created in Georgia Supported by Crystal

The fund Crystal, with the support of USAID YES Georgia and NCDC (National Center for Decease Control), organized online YES Hackathon Contain COVID-19 in March. The hackathon aimed to mobilize youth entrepreneurial potential.

For financing the business startups, Crystal allocated 50,000 GEL as a start funding.

One of the winners is Lado Gogolidze, whose idea was not only innovative but also aimed to solve the current problem - he decided to create a breathing apparatus.

Lado did not see this project as his idea, but as a necessity:

"It will be relevant until the threat for damaging human lungs will exist. The apparatus created by us is distinguished by the fact that in a force majeure situation it will be possible to produce any amount of breathing apparatus using the details available in the retail sale. This reduces its cost and increases availability. The difference between a certified apparatus and ours is the resource of the parts used. For example, a certified controlled breathing apparatus valve has a work cycle of three million lock/open while ours has one million. Both achieve the same goal - to protect human life."

Currently, Lado tries to complete the process of creating breathing apparatus. The team is ready to transfer the project free of charge to any person/company that undertakes to manufacture guided breathing apparatus for Georgia at a cost and continue its commercial or non-commercial activities abroad.

"I am not going to do business in Georgia with these devices.", noted Lado.
