Bolnisi Wine Guide to Be Unveiled, Showcasing Region’s Winemaking Heritage

The Bolnisi Wine Guide will be officially presented on May 3 at the Georgian-German Wine House in Bolnisi. The initiative, launched by the Winemakers’ Association "Wine Bolnisi" with the support of the company RMG aims to highlight the region’s rich winemaking heritage and promote local producers both domestically and internationally.

Work on the guide began in 2024, with a focus on presenting the history, traditions, and cultural significance of Bolnisi as a wine-producing region. The publication also spotlights local winemakers, vineyards, and wines, offering readers insight into both historical practices and modern developments in the area.

The guide explores several key topics, including the continuous tradition of winemaking in Bolnisi, unique vintage and fermentation techniques from the former German settlement, and descriptions of grape varieties typical of Kvemo Kartli. Special emphasis is placed on Bolnisi’s status as a protected designation of origin and its growing importance within Georgian viticulture.

A centerpiece of the publication is a detailed wine map of Bolnisi, featuring 32 wineries, along with a revived soil map highlighting the various terroirs of the municipality—vital information for winemakers and viticulture professionals.

In addition to its oenological content, the guide presents Bolnisi as a destination of golden wine and gastronomy, rich in both natural beauty and cultural landmarks.

The presentation event will be attended by local winemakers, industry experts, sommeliers, wine enthusiasts, and tourism professionals.

The Bolnisi Wine Guide was produced by N Line Media, publisher of Homeland of Wine, Georgia’s leading wine magazine. The guide is expected to play a key role in promoting Bolnisi’s wine identity and increasing awareness of its growing relevance in the global wine landscape.
