Beer Prices in Georgia: Affordable Compared to Neighbors, Except Kazakhstan - Galt & Taggart Analysis

Galt & Taggart's recent analysis of the beer sector reveals that beer prices in Georgian supermarkets are more affordable compared to Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Turkey, yet higher than in Kazakhstan. The report provides a comparative cost analysis across various countries.

According to the study, the price for a liter of beer stands at $0.95 in Kazakhstan, marginally higher at $0.96 in Georgia, and $0.98 in the Czech Republic. Turkey ranks fourth with beer priced at $1.09 per liter. Armenia, the Netherlands, and Russia follow in the list, with Azerbaijan topping the chart at $2.24 per liter.

When it comes to bars, Georgian establishments offer the most cost-effective options in the region. A liter of beer in Georgian bars is priced at $3.64, slightly less than $4 in Czech bars and $4.12 in Azerbaijani bars. The lineup continues with Armenia, Belgium, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Germany, and the Netherlands. Russian bars have the highest price for beer at $8.84 per liter.

The report also notes a rising trend in beer prices in Georgia from 2021 to 2023, attributing this increase to growing production costs and escalating demand.

In the third quarter of 2023, the beer sector's revenue rose by 15.2%, reaching 446.1 million GEL, with beer sales contributing up to 60% of the total revenue and non-alcoholic beverages accounting for the remainder.
