The Basque Gastronomic Academy, a collaborative project between Caucasus University and the Basque Culinary Center, is set to open its doors in Gurjaani by fall 2025. Construction is well underway, with no delays anticipated, and completion is expected by early summer 2025.

Davit Songhulashvili, the project initiator and Chairman of the Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee, shared that training programs are already developed, and the academy’s lecturers are currently being trained. The academy will accommodate 400 students, with 15% of enrollment reserved for international students. Additionally, the academy will feature on-campus housing that meets international standards. The project has an estimated budget of 17 million GEL.

Announced in 2022, the academy is supported by Georgia’s Ministry of Education and Science. This institution will bring the legacy of the prestigious Basque Culinary Center, established in 2011 in San Sebastian, Spain. Globally renowned, the Basque Culinary Center trains students from diverse backgrounds, preparing them for successful careers in the international culinary scene.
