Azerbaijani-Georgian Media Forum Held in Baku
An Azerbaijani-Georgian media forum was held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. The forum, titled “The Role of Media in Building Public Trust and Ensuring Information Security,” highlighted the importance of systematically expanding information exchange between the two countries, strengthening trust among media actors, and establishing a unified communication agenda to promote regional stability and sustainable development.
Azerbaijani and Georgian speakers emphasized that the rapid development of digital technologies and social media platforms has significantly increased the volume of information, which, in turn, further elevates the role of professional media and makes the effective implementation of information security policies even more essential.
The forum’s first panel session focused on the topic: “Strengthening the Media Ecosystem to Ensure Information Security.”
During the panel, participants discussed issues such as the multifaceted impact of technological evolution on the media environment, safeguarding a reliable information space, the growing role of social media as a key information source, and establishing more effective communication with diverse audiences through digital tools.
The second panel session addressed the topic: “Joint Cooperation to Enhance Journalists’ Professionalism and Improve Media Literacy in Society.”
Speakers noted that in the modern information environment, where the media’s responsibility continues to grow, it is especially important to strengthen journalists’ qualifications, expand educational initiatives, and implement media literacy projects to ensure that the public has access to reliable information.
Azerbaijani and Georgian participants agreed that such meetings are essential—especially with the involvement of media representatives from other countries in the region—so that in an era of rapid technological development, media outlets facing various specific challenges can share the latest experiences with one another regarding the key issue confronting all media sectors: their success in combating fake news.
