90% of Georgian Hazelnuts to be Exported
According to the Georgian Hazelnut Growers Association, in 2020, hazelnut harvest will exceed 50,000 tons.
Specialists predict, that more than 90% of the harvest will be exported, and the key markets will be Italy and Germany.
As Georgian Hazelnut Growers Association noted, the sector has been developing over the past few years and if the climatic conditions and amount of pests remain stable, the yield will reach 120,000 tons in 4 years.
The record was 60,000 tons so far. As for the harvest of the year 2019, 35,000 tons of hazelnuts were exported, which, compared to the year 2018, is doubled.
