45 Tons of Snail to Export from Khobi to Italy

A snail farm, Nadi Group was built in the village of Khobi Municipality, Akhali Khibula in 2017. This year, 45 tons of snails will be exported to Italy.

The price of the investment is 1,86 million GEL, of which 1,26 million GEL is received by the beneficiary with a preferential agro-credit. The farm produces an average of 50 tons of snails a year. The farm currently employs 15 locals.

"Biologically produced snail is exported to the EU. The government actively worked on this field. The free trade agreement provides for a phytosanitary and veterinary obligation that has been met by the state and, to date, mollusks and snails are allowed on the EU market. For farmers, the income per hectare is several tens of thousands of Euros. Our priority is to focus on more valuable areas in agriculture.", noted minister Levan Davitashvili.
