Georgian Citizens Keep 69% of their Bank Savings in Foreign Currency

Georgian citizens have deposits of GEL 15.7 billion in commercial banks. 69% of this amount or 10.8 billion GEL is placed in foreign currency.

According to the National Bank's data, the larization of individual deposits fell by 0.9 percentage points in March compared to the previous month. Despite this loss, the status quo persists, with citizens preferring to keep their money in dollars and euros rather than lari.

In terms of currencies, deposits amount to GEL 9.44 billion in US dollars, GEL 1.25 billion in EUR, and only GEL 100 million in pound sterling.
