Harvest in Racha is Over and Grapes are Fully Settled
1570 tons of Alexandrouli and Mujuretuli grapes were processed in Ambrolauri municipality.
About 1,300 winegrowers handed over grapes to wine enterprises; The received income reached 11 million GEL.
In the current year, the main part of the grape harvest in Racha was processed by the private sector. More than 60 private companies were registered in the vintage coordination headquarters.
In order to actively engage and stimulate private enterprises in the harvesting process, by the decision of the Government of Georgia, the subsidy program was implemented in the Racha region. All those companies that bought and processed at least 3 tons of Alexandrouli and Mujuretuli grapes grown in the microzone of Khvanchkara and paid the grower at least 7 GEL will receive the subsidy. The mentioned companies will receive 4 GEL per 1 kg of Alexandrou and 1 kg of Mujuret as a state subsidy.
In order to protect the varietal precision and ensure the quality of "Khvanchkara" wine of local origin, ampelographers monitored the grapes to be handed over at all grape receiving points.
During the harvest process, more than 30 grape drop-off points were opened at different locations in the Ambrolauri municipality, which gave the population the opportunity to collect the harvest without interruption.
In order to organize harvest 2022, the coordination headquarters of the harvest was operating in the city of Ambolauri.
After Racha, the harvest will move to Lechkhumi, namely Tsageri municipality.
It is worth noting that this year the local wine "Okuresh Ushakhelouri" was added to the Lechkhumi region, whose microzone is located in the Racha-Lechkhumi region, in the administrative municipality of Tsageri. Okureshi no-sleeve wine can be made only from the grapes of the no-sleeve variety grown in the microzone. "Okuresh Usakhelouri" is a red wine that, depending on the sugar content, can be of three different categories: dry, naturally semi-dry, or naturally semi-sweet.
