Organized by the National Wine Agency of Georgia, a group of wine professionals from the Republic of Korea visited Georgia under the leadership of Chan Jun Park, Vice President of the Korea International Sommelier Association and founder of the Wine Writers’ Club, according to information released by the National Wine Agency.
The eight-member delegation included sommeliers, importers, and influencers who expressed strong interest in finding new partners in Georgia—an important step toward increasing awareness of Georgian wine and expanding exports.
As part of the tour, Korean wine professionals visited Georgian wine companies and cellars in Kakheti, where they learned about Georgian winemaking technologies and traditions. Several tastings featuring different producers were also held in Tbilisi.
“Georgian wines are becoming increasingly popular on the Korean market. Korean consumers are well acquainted with wines from around the world and appreciate original, authentic flavors and unique characteristics. With this in mind, Georgian wine has great potential in Korea. While Georgian wine was previously not very well known on the Korean market, its imports are now growing rapidly. I believe Georgian wine has a very strong future in Korea, and we certainly need greater diversity,” said Chan Jun Park.
The National Wine Agency has been actively implementing various marketing activities on the Korean market for the sixth consecutive year. As a result, since 2019, the Republic of Korea has emerged as an important target market for the promotion of Georgian wine, where numerous significant events have been organized and supported by the National Wine Agency.
