New Cottage to be Built on the Black Rocks Lake Route

5 million GEL project will be implemented in Lagodekhi protected areas.

As Giorgi Sulamanidze, Director of the Lagodekhi Protected Areas Administration, told Business Partner, the project duration is 3 years. The project managers plans to upgrade existing trails, including: Black Rock Lake, Rocho Waterfall and Machi Castle trails. Bathrooms will be placed on the trails and another cottage will be built on the Black Rock Lake route.

There are 2 tourist shelters on the Black Rock Lake route at this stage. "Meteo" on the place of the first night and "Demidov's apartment" on the site of the second night.

According to Giorgi Sulamanidze, in 2019, when a record number of visitors visited the protected areas of Lagodekhi, the tourist shelter of "Meteo" could not meet the existing demand, therefore, there was a need to build a new cottage in the same place. The tourist shelter will be equipped with a modern and solar energy system.

"The contract has already been signed. The cost of the project is about 5 million GEL. In the end, there will be high standard trails in the Lagodekhi protected area, ”said Giorgi Sulamanidze.

At the same time, as Giorgi Sulamanidze notes, there is a boom in tourism infrastructure in Lagodekhi municipality. During the pandemic, up to 10 new, different tourist facilities were arranged in the settlements.
