Georgia Participated in the First Global Youth Summit of the UN WTO
Giorgi Kochkiani, a 17-year-old guide living in Ushguli, Svaneti region, represented Georgia at the Global Youth Summit.
Young people from 60 countries discussed the vision of tourism development in the city of Sorrento, Italy. Different kinds of master classes were held for young people at the summit. The famous football player Didier Drogba, who was invited as a special guest and honorary ambassador, shared his experience with the young people. They had meetings with the ministers of different countries.
A high-ranking ministerial meeting was held within the summit, which was attended by Tamar Koriauli, the first deputy head of the National Tourism Administration. The summit was opened with a welcome speech by the Pope. Sophie Loren addressed the audience. Within the framework of the event, the challenges facing the tourism sector, and the importance of sustainable development in the field were discussed on the discussion platforms.
