Galt & Taggart Expects 80-85% Recovery in Tourism Revenue this Year
"We forecast that tourism revenues will recover by 80-85% this year compared to 2019," Eva Bochorishvili, head of Galt & Taggart's research department, said at Business Morning.
Galt & Taggart had expected a 36 per cent recovery in tourism revenue in 2021, but the result exceeded forecasts and saw a 38 per cent recovery from 2019.
"We have identified three factors that affect the recovery of tourism revenues in Georgia, namely: young people under 50, visitors who are 70% of visitors in 2019, they are not afraid of a pandemic situation, visitors from land border, who are 75% - And thirdly, business visitors, they make up 8% of the total visitors, ”Bochorishvili explained.
In December 2021, 160,763 international visitors visited Georgia. However the situation is different according to the border types.
In particular, by air, 76,813 visitors arrived in December, which is 48% of the total flow. Compared to 2019, the number of arrivals by air is reduced by only 16%.
The number of visitors by land was 82,850, which is 81% less than in 2019.
