Lithuanian Film and Culture Festival to be Held in Mziuri Today
A two-day festival "Window to Lithuania" will open today at 18:30 in Mziuri Park Amphitheater. "Window in Lithuania" will be held in Tbilisi for the first time and will present Lithuanian culture, art, sports and traditions.
The audience will be able to listen to compositions created by combining Lithuanian contemporary music and polyphonic songs, performed by the member of the Lithuanian band "Skamp" Viktoras Diavara with local musicians and listeners. In addition, open-air Lithuanian film screenings and meetings with filmmakers will be held.
The program includes director Giedre Zickyte's documentary "How We Played the Revolution", the debut film of Georgian director Maria Kavtaradze living in Lithuania, Summer Survivors, and Marius Markevicius' film about the importance of sports in restoring Lithuanian independence.
The event will also feature juvenile guests who will be presented with an animated educational short film program, as well as discussions with Lithuanian artists.
The aim of the festival is to reflect the uniqueness of culture, Lithuanian cinema and music in the European context. By creating new connections, the project allows artists from different countries to meet and exchange experiences. This event is a gift from Lithuania to the city of Tbilisi on the occasion of Georgia's Independence Day.
The two-day festival is organized by the Lithuanian communities "Labas" and "Ruta". The event is sponsored by the Lithuanian Culture Council and the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Georgia. The official partner of the festival is Tbilisi City Hall.
