Exhibition of David Kakabadze Archive

On December 11th, the archive of Davit Kakabadze will be exhibited. Archive of painter, physician, art critic and researcher unites sketches, collages, author's scientific experiments, photos and authorized documents.

The exhibition will present essays, research papers of Georgian ornament genesis, photos, stereo-film apparatus documentations and esquisse of Soviet flag published in the first multi-disciplinal journal "Shvidi Mnatobi".

The event will be curated by Nino Akhvlediani and the founder of Davit Kakabadze fund - Mariam Kakabadze.

Together with the family archive, the presentation on the matters of digital archive work by Davit Kakabadze will be held. Initiated and supported by TBC the digital archive fully unites author's work.

Apart from that, Ketevan Kintsurashvili will present the lecture and she will discuss the importance of Davit Kakabadze in the history of modernism. Lecturer will also speak about artist's life and work. She will mark out his artworks, which were presented in Brooklyn museum during the international exhibition of modernism on 1926. Therefore, the lecture will be partly dedicated to his collection "'Société Anonyme'", in which these artworks are kept (the USA, Yell University Art Museum).

 

Davit Kakabadze and Marcel Duchamp, Wassily Kandinsky and others - shown parallels will bring an awareness of the quality of the artist in the time context. Kakabadze will be presented, as one of the founders of biomorphic abstraction.

The exhibition will take place on Rustaveli Avenue #18 and will last till January 15.
