Zurab Noghaideli: Namokhvani, Khudoni and Nenskra HPPs will Make Breakthrough in Georgian Economy

“Georgia’s nearest economic growth forecast stands at 5%, but this growth is not sufficient, because it can improve economic conditions of only 40% of our population and worsen the economic condition of 60% of our citizens”, Zurab Noghaideli, currently a member of ElGreen energy company’s supervisory board noted.

It is expected that part of this 60% take decision to migrate to foreign countries in pursuit of job places, Noghaideli noted. “This is our key problem. Therefore, this forecast indicator should be doubled. We need at least 10% growth in the next 10 years in order to grow the incomes of all citizens and none of them think of fleeing the country.

In order to attain 10% economic growth and ensure rapid economic development, it is necessary to implement major energy projects, including Namokhvani, Khudoni, and Nenskra HPP projects, and build regulatory hydropower plants. Only small and medium HPPs do not suffice to reach this goal”, Zurab Noghaideli said.
