Twenty-four HPPs to Launch Operation in 2020

Twenty-dour (24) hydro power plants (HPPs) will be put into exploitation in 2020, as part of the 10-year plan for developing the electricity transmission grid of Georgia. One HPP has already launched operation in 2020.

Total installed generation of these HPPs is 142.43 megawatts. The forecast annual generation makes up 664 million kw/h.

On he whole, under the mentioned plan, out of these 25 facilities, four ones (Chartali, Mashavera 1, Mashavera 2 and Zemo Karabulakhi) were to start operation before April 2020, however, only Mashavera facility has launched operation, while the remaining projects are being still built, the Economy Ministry officials noted.

We remind you that the Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development approved the 2020-2030 version of 10-year plan for the Georgian transmission grid development on March 20, 2020.
