SpaceX to Integrate Georgia into Satellite Internetization Project

Deputy Economy Minister of Georgia Irakli Nadareishvili, GITA Chairman Avtandil Kasradze, and Enterprise Georgia director Mikheil Khidureli have visited the USA.

The Georgian delegation was also represented by Levan Beridze, consul general of Georgia in San Francisco. As part of the visit, GITA and Catapult company signed a memorandum on cooperation. Under the document, the US company will enter the Georgian market and Georgian startups will have the opportunity to attract investments from the foundation and reach a global market.

The Georgian delegation held meetings with the Founders Fund’s partner Trae Stephens and the Craft Ventures’ partner Brian Murrey on future cooperation details. The Showcase Day of the 500 Startups program was held in San Francisco and four Georgian startups from the 500Georgia program Payze, Agrolabs, Cardeal.ge and Cargon were introduced to foreign investors at the final stage of the acceleration program. Negotiations were also held with Oracle on opening data centers and development representations in Georgia.

These opportunities will enable Georgiaნ IT specialists to get employed at USA high-technology companies and Georgian startups will be able to engage in Oracle acceleration program. Furthermore, after the visit, SpaceX expressed interest in involving Georgia in the satellite internetization program. Thus, Georgia is considered as one of the pioneer countries that will receive satellite internet. To this end, SpaceX will start official procedures for getting licensed as an internet provider in Georgia, GITA’s official website reads.
