Showcasing Innovation and Learning: The “Agro Project” Results Presentation and Agro Job Fair 2023
On September 12, the Agrarian University of Georgia played host to the unveiling of the “Agro Project” results and the concurrent Agro Job Fair 2023. The “Agro Project” is an innovative component of the bachelor's agronomy program, offering students a practical platform to cultivate various agricultural crops on a demonstration plot, thereby integrating theoretical insights with practical application.
During the presentation, students illuminated the audience with their observations, experiences, and outcomes derived over the course of the year. Guests were afforded the chance to observe, taste, and assess the produce nurtured by the project's participants, providing a tangible representation of the students' acquired knowledge and skills.
The “Agro Project” presents students with the opportunity to engage in multifaceted activities on a demonstration plot, fortified with state-of-the-art irrigation systems within the university premises. It enables them to learn the intricate nuances of cultivating their chosen agricultural crops, involving soil analysis, budgeting, risk assessment, development of a fertility management plan, sowing, monitoring for pests or diseases, harvesting, and assessing quantitative and qualitative indicators.
Students were provided with essential resources such as seed materials, fertilizers, and pesticides by the project’s supporter, "Agrosphere". Remarkably, since 2022, the company has also been fostering scholarship and internship programs for the students of the Georgian Agrarian University.
"Agrosphere," a proponent of youth engagement and interest in agriculture, actively participates in such initiatives, endeavoring to create avenues for students to enhance their acumen in the agricultural sector. The company stands as the premier importer of agricultural products and equipment in Georgia, rooted in the principles of modernity and innovation, striving to amplify access to groundbreaking products within the country.
This year marked the inaugural presentation of the “Agro Project” results, wherein participants exhibited commendable outcomes and captivating presentations. “We are optimistic that the insights acquired through the project will steer them towards actualizing their future endeavors and amplify their motivation to persist in their agricultural pursuits,” expressed Mariam Merabishvili, the head of the "Agrosphere" training center, "Agrarium".
It is the aspiration of entities like "Agrosphere" to support the next generation of agriculturists by furnishing modern agro-education, thereby nurturing a cadre of individuals who are profoundly engaged and invested in the realm of agriculture.
