Private Owners to Implement Eliava Market Development Project
Private owners will implement the Eliava Market development projects, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze noted at the August 26 Tbilisi Government meeting.
An agreement has been achieved with owners and this will be one of the major projects that will be implemented by the private sector (owners of the territories) based on the municipality-prepared plan, he said. It is absolutely unacceptable to maintain the current condition at Eliava Market, Kakha Kaladze said.
“This is an important economic zone, but the current condition there, its appearance, infrastructure, and safety norms substantially mismatch the current development level of Tbilisi. Negotiations have ended with all owners. The main thing is to achieve agreement on the concept development”, the Tbilisi Mayor said. The municipality had announced tender and an agreement on planning was signed with the owners. The active working process is underway. “The project reflects the interests of the capital city, owners and employees”, Kakha Kaladze said.
