Levan Karanadze: Flight Tickets will be more Expensive, but Decreased Fuel Price will Balance it
Flight tickets are likely to rise in price, but this increase will be partly offset by lower fuel fare, the head of the Civil Aviation Agency said in a statement on the airline's business plan.
Levan Karanadze says that their forecast is negative for air tickets and airlines.
"We expect that the demand will decrease in general. The airline, in order to be able to restore and implement flights, given the low workload, is likely to have increased prices. Added to this are health care requirements. For this, it is necessary to make rational and, most importantly, coordinated decisions at the international level, so that different protocols do not operate in different countries, which will further hinder the restoration of air traffic, "- said Levan Karanadze.
The Civil Aviation Agency expects the increase in prices to be offset by lower fuel prices.
"As you know, 20-30% of the cost of airlines comes from aviation fuel. Since there will be a serious drop in fuel prices, it will be too early to say how much a particular number will cost to travel and whether it will become more pricey. It is likely that it will become more expensive, but the decrease in the price of aviation fuel will balance this, ”said Karanadze.
Recall that the International Air Transparency International Association predicts a 50% increase in air fares.
