Georgia's External Merchandise Trade Decreased by 11.8%
According to the preliminary data of the National Statistics Office, in January-April 2020 the external merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to USD 3 463.5 million, 11.8 percent lower to the same period of 2019.
The exports equaled USD 1 001.3 million (11.9 percent lower), while the imports stood at USD 2 462.2 million (11.8 percent lower).
The negative trade balance was USD 1 460.8 million in January-April 2020 and its share in external trade turnover constituted 42.2 percent.
According to Geostat, In January-April 2020 the share of the top ten trading partners by exports in the total exports of Georgia amounted to 78.1 percent. The top partners were Azerbaijan (USD 145.2 million), China (USD 135.5 million) and Russia (USD 125.6 million).
In January-April 2020 the share of the top ten trading partners by imports in the total imports of Georgia amounted to 68.9 percent. The top partners were Turkey (USD 406.0 million), Russia (USD 270.1 million) and Azerbaijan (USD 221.8 million).
