Georgia Exported $97.5 Million Worth of Gold in 2020

In 2020, Georgia exported 2.7 tons of raw gold worth $97.5 million. According to official figures, gold exports did not increase significantly as a result of the pandemic, but gold sales income increased by 33.9 percent to 97.5 million USD (2019: 72.8 million USD).

Georgia sold 2.7 tons gold in 4 countries in 2020, while 2.6 tons gold - in three countries in 2019.

The largest amount of gold (2.6 tons) was sold in Switzerland.

TOP Countries By Exports of Raw or Semi-processed Gold:

1. Switzerland - 92.4 million USD;
2. Germany – 2.6 million USD;
3. Turkey – 1.2 million USD;
4. The United Arab Emirates - 1.2 million USD.

In January-April 2021, 0.5 tons of gold worth $ 18.6 million was exported from Georgia to Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates, Germany and Turkey.

Last year, the country imported a total of $ 0.6 thousand worth of gold in the form of crude powder.
