Farmers Earn over GEL 9 million from Sales of Nonstandard Apple

The Georgian Agriculture Ministry has released information on the implementation of the nonstandard apple sales support state program.

As of November 20, farmers have already sold over 41,000 tons of nonstandard apples as part of the nonstandard apple sales support state program.

As a result, farmers have earned over GEL 9 million. This year we have received rich harvest of apples. Georgian apple exports exceeded 4,700 tons, up 11 times compared to 2019”, Otar Shamugia, first deputy director of the Agriculture Development Agency noted. Fourteen companies have engaged in the nonstandard apple sales support program, under which the Government subsidizes 1 kilogram of nonstandard apple by GEL 0.10 for those processing plants that pay at least GEL 0.22 for 1 kilogram of nonstandard apple till December 1, 2020.
