EUROCONTROL Delays Air Traffic Tax for Airlines Publishing Deferral Schedule

EUROCONTROL member states have agreed on a € 1 billion financial package to defer airfare to airlines.

The reason is the reduction in flights by 90% as a result of COVID-19, which will continue for several more weeks, and the airline industry needs support to deal with the crisis.

"I am glad that our member states supported the decision. This will facilitate the liquidity of the industry. EUROCONTROL has been contacted by a number of companies confirming that they will not be able to pay their bills. By reducing air traffic by 90%, member states recognize the common challenge. Dismissal of this tax will ease the burden on companies.

It is important to understand the importance of this event because it is vital to the aviation industry, ”said Imon Brennan, EUROCONTROL CEO.
