EU Agreed to Begin Reviewing Georgia's, Ukraine's, and Moldova's Membership Bids
In the wake of Russia's invasion, the EU has agreed to begin reviewing Ukraine, Georgia, and Moldova's membership applications.
Following the Kremlin's attack on Kyiv last week, ex-Soviet republics rushed in highly symbolic bids to join the bloc.
The move by the 27 member nations is the first stage in the bloc's famously difficult process of choosing whether to admit new members, which can take years.
According to French authorities, who now hold the rotating presidency of the EU, EU ambassadors decided to ask the bloc's executive to offer a 'opinion' on the three countries' bids.
