ElGreen Publishes Electricity Imports Tariffs for April 2021

ElGreen energy company has published electricity imports tariffs for April 2021. According to the company’s press release, ElGreen continues the practice that it started in January 2021 and publishes monthly reports on volumes and prices of electricity imports.

In April 2021, Georgia’s electricity imports constituted 259.6 million kw/h, including 173.45 million kw/h was imported from Russia, 36.2 million kw/h - from Azerbaijan, and 50.1 million kw/h - from Turkey.

Russian electricity of 173.4 million kw/h was entirely directed to Russia-occupied Abkhazia and neither Electricity System Commercial Operator (ESCO) nor the state budget of Georgia has paid money for this deal. ElGreen supplied 23.1 million kw/h of 36.2 million kw/h to ESCO at Cent 3.9/3.9/6.9, while direct agreements were signed with consumers on a supply of 13.1 million kw/h.

According to the press release, Galt&Taggart’s report on electricity market consumption reflects the current trends on Georgia’s electricity market, electricity imports tariffs, and volumes. “This study has reaffirmed our multiple statements that import of Azerbaijani electricity is cheaper compared to import from Turkey and Russia”, Zurab Noghaideli, member of ElGreen energy company’s supervisory board, noted. ElGreen company carries out trans-frontier electricity trade operations and transits electricity from Azerbaijan to Turkey. Starting 2015, the company supplies cheap electricity to Georgia too.
