Eighteen Major Companies to Buy Electricity
Electricity System Commercial Operator (ESCO) has registered 18 companies as direct electricity buyers on the wholesale market. As a result, total number of direct consumers has grown to 42 ones. These companies buy electricity directly from power generation facilities or ESCO.
According to the electricity market model’s concept, starting July 1, 2021, major consumers using average monthly 0.4 million kw/h have joined the free market (both retail and wholesale markets) in the segment of 110-35 kw power.
Starting July 1, 2022, consumers with only 1 million kw/h consumption a month will also become direct buyers in the sector of 6-10 kw power.
As for other consumers that consumer less than 1 million kw/h a month, they are authorized to receive electricity under the ESCO-regulated consumer tariffs until 2026.
The Economy Minister supposes that in 2021 direct consumers will use 3.12 billion kw/h.
On July 1, the following companies have become direct electricity consumers: LLC Black Sea Terminal; LLC Georgian Building Group; JSC Argo; LLC Corporation Poti Seaport; LLC Carmen; LLC United Water Supply Company of Georgia, LLC Georgian Melioration; LLC Lilo Mall; JSC Air-Structures Technologies; LLC Batumi Oil Terminal; JSC Tskali Margebeli; JSC Georgian Railway; LLC Orbi Group; LLC Rustavi Tskali; LLC Bevrili Group; LLC Georgian branch of IDS Borjomi Beverage; Georgian Branch of Chinese Roads and Bridge Corporation.
