Economy Minister: Power Sector is One of the Priority Segments in Georgia-Kazakhstan Cooperation

“Power sector is one of the priority segments in Georgia-Kazakhstan cooperation. Amid growing volume of oil extraction, it is of crucial importance for Kazakhstan to have the opportunity of diversification of oil supplies to western markets. In this respect we have common interests. We have discussed how to expand Georgia’s transit potential and attractiveness of Georgian market for our Kazakh partners”, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Natia Turnava noted after her meeting with Energy Minister of Kazakhstan Kanat Bozumbav.

At the meeting the Parties discussed the opportunity for making Kazakh investments in Georgia. Namely, Kazakhstan expressed readiness to arrange petrochemical plant to supply the final products to the third countries.

“We have achieved agreement to jointly work on this investment and this project may play crucial role in petrochemical industry”, Natia Turnava said.

As part of her visit to Kazakhstan, Natia Turnava is meeting with Kazakh government officials and she will also participate in the 10th meeting of Georgia-Kazakhstan intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation. The Georgian Economy Minister will also meet with Georgian businessmen living in Kazakhstan.
