BTU Launching Projects with Green Partners in the Country to Support Green Technologies

Renewable Energy Laboratory and its research, sharing and introducing the experience of European countries, joint projects with the German Embassy to introduce green technologies in Georgia, active research and work on harmonization of the law, various projects to stimulate the generation and sale of renewable energy - this is Greentech, another of direction of Business and Technology University within the framework of "Initiative 5.0".

In September 2019, a renewable energy laboratory was established at BTU, on the basis of which four studies were conducted with the involvement of GNERC member and BTU Bachelor of Finance Manager, Maia Melikidze. These are: energy market liberalization, electricity shortages, accompanying challenges, and the role of renewable (solar) energy; State Strategy and Preferential Systems for Renewable Energy; Influence of EU Renewable Energy Legislation on Georgian Energy Law Reform; Renewable energy in Georgia, key aspects of the new legal framework governing the sector.

BTU actively cooperates with the German Embassy in the field of green energy, as Germany is one of the leading countries in this field. The development of Greentech in Germany started in 1992 and has a lot of experience and success. The German Embassy in Georgia fully supports the local implementation of similar projects.

In addition, BTU is launching projects in the field of green technologies together with the Rustaveli Foundation. In parallel, collaborates with various researchers. In this way the university tries to transfer the experience gained from different countries. Partnership negotiations are underway with a number of local and international organizations.

The University of Business and Technology is ready to discuss with the new Parliament at the legislative level the establishment of a mechanism to promote green technologies, which is very important. The studies that have been conducted at the university and will be conducted in the future are of a practical nature and each of them serves this purpose. It is necessary that each research and scientific paper is first reflected in the legislation and then put into practice. Finally, BTU plans to deliver tangible results in the shortest possible time.
