7.4 Million Tender for Completion of Mtatsminda-Rustaveli Ropeway Announced

According to the tender published on the website of the State Procurement Agency, the Tbilisi Transport Company plans to spend 7.4 million GEL to complete the Mtatsminda-Rustaveli ropeway.

According to the tender, the company has to build the ropeway infrastructure, after which the cabins and cables of the company Dopplemeier will be installed on the site.

"The technical assignment determines the technical conditions for the construction of the air ropeway from Rustaveli Avenue to Mtatsminda Park.The lower station is located on Rustaveli Avenue near the building of the Academy of Sciences at the mark of 432.77 m; the upper station is located at the mark of 722.31 m.;

Tbilisi Transport Company will receive proposals from companies in this tender on January 13-18. It is clear from the description of the application that the transport company will consider only the bids of the companies that have completed at least 20 million GEL of construction works since January 2018.

The company that won the tender must complete the rope project within the next 15 months.

The implementation of the Mtatsminda-Rustaveli ropeway was initially stipulated in an agreement signed in June 2012, but since then its technical parameters have changed several times. The biggest change on Rustaveli Avenue was the location of the ropeway stop, which was originally located near the Radisson Hotel. The concrete rope-bearing pillars of the area were also partially built, although the capital's government later designated the Academy of Sciences building as the last stop of the ropeway instead of the Radisson.
