Vaccination of Georgian Citizens Starts with Pfizer
According to the Deputy Minister of Healthcare, Tamar Gabunia, Georgia will receive only the vaccine, which will be authorized by WHO, or will be recognized by highly trusted regulators.
She says, that initially, the vaccine of Pfizer will enter Georgia, after this, citizens will be vaccinated with AstraZeneca.
"The country has the terms, to preserve three types of vaccine, which require a temperature of -80 degrees, such as the Pfizer's vaccine, also Moderna vaccine vials are supposed to remain at frozen temperatures between -25°C and -15°C. Vaccines with a temperature range of 2°C and 8°C are the requirement of our practically routine immunization scheme. Therefore, we are ready for the vaccines.
The Pfizer COVID-10 vaccine is supposed to enter the country in the first quarter and we are working on this with Covax platform. We also negotiate with Astrazeneca's vaccine, these two will be very close to each other in terms of entering Georgia.
It is not expected for the country to have a problem with replacing the vaccine type. The most important condition that the vaccine must meet to be included in our plan, is the authorization status from WHO, or it must be accepted by high trusted regulators. 37 countries are considered as regulators.", noted Tamar Gabunia.
