SOCAR Installs Solar Panels on one of the Petrol Stations

SOCAR continues its activities in the field of environmental protection within the framework of CSR Platform "5 Standards of Responsibility".

A few days ago, the YINGLI SOLAR panels were installed on the roof of the petrol station in Tbilisi, Agmashenebeli Alley, with the total capacity of 30 KW. The project was implemented by Green Energy. It is the first precedent in this region, and one of the first in the world.

Solar panels produce energy of about 3 megawatts per month. It equals to saving up to 10 trees. With the energy gained from these panels, a new brand of SOCAR -Way Mart store will be supplied which is located beside the station. In case of success, similar panels will be installed at larger stations of SOCAR.

In addition to the solar panels, in the field of environmental protection, SOCAR is implementing other projects as well. For instance, the company is promoting the use of electric cars. Hence, charger for the electric cars is located at the station on Agmashenebeli Alley as well. Given the fact that there is a high demand on the chargers, the company is planning to add another charger in the near future.

One of the main goals of SOCAR is to support drivers of any type of transport and give customers opportunity to receive the full service at the petrol stations.
