Skatepark & Parkour Ground Mziur Nominated at EU Mies Award
The project of David Giorgadze and Maxime Machaidze Skatepark & Parkour Ground Mziuri, located in Mziuri Park, Tbilisi, has been nominated for the EU Mies Award 2022.
The circular shaped Parkour Ground allows anyone interested in skateboarding and parkour to try themselves in this sport. Figures of different shapes and sizes are arranged to use the tricks, and the spatial curve surface allows extreme sports enthusiasts to do various tricks. The skate park is a kind of repetition of the river bed, where the bridge divides the park, like a river, into 2 parts: on one side there is a street section zone, and on the other side - the so-called Bowl area.
Created by the European Commission and Fundació Mies van der Rohe, the EU Mies Award awards the best modern architectural projects every 2 years. The aim of the EU Mies Award is for private and public institutions, as well as the general public, to better understand the cultural role of architecture in the construction of cities. The winner of the EU Mies Award 22 will be revealed in April. The award ceremony will be held in May 2021 in Barcelona.
