Silknet’s Preventive Measures against COVID-19 Virus

Stemming out of the security and well-being of employees, customers, public and country’s interests, Silknet switches to 24/7 regime by preserving all norms and recommendations in order to prevent spreading the virus during the pandemics.

At the very early stage of escalation of new COVID-19 in Georgia, Silknet took immediate measures to support the norms of labor health and safety, as per recommendations of National Center for Disease Control and Public Health.

For the safety of its employees, Silknet went to remote working schedule, with the view to avoid the risks of spreading virus among employees gathered in one space. Besides, active internal communication is provided in regard to preventive measures taken. Any employees returning from abroad are granted 14 day paid leaves for isolation. All important business visits outside the country were cancelled. Also, as an early preventive step, long before the epidemic became so widely spread, the company postponed one of its strategic projects and requested cancellation of the visit of one of its biggest foreign vendors.

Service offices are temporarily closed in Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Batumi airports. As for the other service centers, all necessary precautionary measures are made. Periodical disinfection is provided in administrative and other buildings across the country. Disinfection liquids are accessible in every office and shop. These measures were taken after announcing the first case of virus.

Those employees whose work implies visits in households and office buildings, Silknet provides them with necessary equipment and ammunition for the sake of their and customer safety.

Besides the mentioned preventive measures, following actions were taken by the company: Silknet made hotline calls of  National Center for Disease Control and Public Health free of charge and added 20 more free fixed telephone lines on top of the existing 10, increased internet speed for one of the university, which has continued studies on online bases, as well as for those quarantine zones, where citizens undergo their isolation period. A new special COVID-19 dedicated hot line number was created and granted for free to Red Cross.

In order to promote online learning, apart from internet provision, Silknet made free access to its product for School students “Home School”, which can be accessed  on TV set for Silknet subscribers, as well as smartphone and computer. For those, who were not registered on this portal before, Silknet is cancelling registration in order to make an open access for everyone. Currently there are works ongoing together with Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport in order to create access to Silknet’s “Home School” to remote regions of Georgia where no internet is provided. Silknet will allow one of the TV Channels to air the “Home School”, so the children in those regions will be given the opportunity to get online home lessons of their school program.

For getting Silknet’s services online, company offers its subscribers different options, such as application “My Silknet” and web portal, where customers of mobile and fixed services will be able to receive almost all services without visiting shops: make payments, refill their balance, purchase and activate desired packages, etc.  Plus, the call center, unlike its ordinary duties, started serving with more services over the phone, thus creating an alternative ways for remote service provision to customers.

Silknet is ready to take necessary measures in all possible directions. Company makes active monitoring for discovering such needs, where it can come for help and act.
