Raua Haljak - Green Area in the Center of Tallinn Designed in Georgian Style
Ambassador of Georgia to the Republic of Estonia, H.E. Mr.Archil Karaulashvili and the Mayor of Tallinn, Mr.Mihhail Kõlvart, opened "Raua Haljak" - a green area in the center of Tallinn designed in Georgian style. Tallinn Central District Governor Vladimir Svet and architect Tiina Tuulik also addressed the guests.
A memorial plaque dedicated to the first official representation of the Republic of Georgia to the Republic of Estonia in 1920-1921 was opened in the mentioned Georgia dedicated area last year. The Raua Green Area was symbolically selected, since it is located near the address of the first official representation of Georgia, Narva Mnt. N 20. The Hotel Rooma, where the representation was initially located, was destroyed by the March 9-10, 1944 bombing.
Both initiatives (opening a memorial plaque and establishing a Georgian design garden) belonged to the Embassy of Georgia to Estonia and was implemented with the support and close cooperation of the Tallinn City Government.
The Georgian thematic of the area was designed by architect Tiina Tuulik. In the center of the garden, there is an illustration of a Borjgali (Georgian symbol of the Sun) decorated with a light color and dark red stones. The cover of the green space is wavy, with large rocks installed in it, symbolizing Georgia's mountainous and rocky landscape. As a symbol of Georgian vineyards, there are rows of small bushes planted in the garden. Chairs for the green area were specially provided by the Tbilisi City Hall and placed around the Borjgali, with the inscription "Tbilisi".
In his address to the audience, Ambassador of Georgia expressed his gratitude to all the institutions involved in the implementation of this initiative, especially the Tallinn Municipality leadership and relevant agencies, for their support and significant contribution to the implementation of the above-mentioned project.
