People with Disabilities Tried Paragliding Supported by Socar
Organized by Youth Media Connections and supported by Socar, people with disabilities tried paragliding within the frameworks of "Active Life is My Passion".
More than 40 participants paraglided from Patara Lilo's mountain, including parachutists, soldiers wounded in military operations, and war veterans. They overcame their fear of heights, put on a paraglider, and flew over the Tbilisi Sea.
Visually impaired people or people with amputation and spinal cord injuries also tried paragliding in a special wheelchair. Since 2013, more than 400 disabled people or military servicemen have participated in this kind of extreme sport.
The company Socar has supported the project "Active Life is My Passion" for three years. More than 500 people with disabilities, wounded military men, and veterans participate in the activities annually.
The project helps them to increase their motivation to stay active and show their abilities in various sports.
The project "Active Life is My Passion" promotes the implementation of the 30th article of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The project aims to encourage the enactment of the convention on the scale of Georgia and ensure the full and equal enjoyment of the human rights of persons with disabilities.
